Beyond Storyline: Instructional Design with Vibe Coding

Goodbye Storyline, Hello Vibe Coding: Redefining Instructional Design with AI
As someone who lives and breathes learning development, the ADDIE model is my compass. We all know the cycle: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. But lately, I’ve been "breaking the wheel" by integrating AI into every single stage of the process. It’s no longer just a helping hand—it’s a force multiplier that accelerates development by tenfold.
Analysis as a Dialogue
The initial characterization and "cracking" of a learning solution have taken a fascinating turn. Instead of staring at a blank page, I engage in a strategic dialogue with AI. Through precise prompting, we uncover new ideas together and define educational solutions with a level of accuracy that traditional brainstorming often misses.
Development: From Concept to High-Fidelity Assets
In the development phase, AI is far more than just a tool for drafting quiz questions. It has become my primary content creator:
- High-Quality Video & Imagery: I’ve recently developed training modules for the defense industry. Anyone in this field knows how difficult it is to get high-quality photos of specific components or rare angles of weapon systems. With AI, I simply generate the exact visual I need.
- Moving Beyond Traditional Tools: Instead of returning to the often-clunky Articulate Storyline, I find myself turning more and more to Vibe Coding. This allows me to build interactive learning experiences with lightning speed and a level of design flexibility that was previously a distant dream.
From the Lab to the Field
The results are already out there and performing:
- Cyber & Information Security: I’ve built comprehensive training solutions for sales teams who need to master advanced cybersecurity products.
- International Defense: I created the e-learning modules currently used by Czech Army soldiers for their training and drills.
Looking Ahead
While I’m thrilled with the current outputs, I’m already looking at what’s next. I’m anticipating even better support for specific brand alignment and the ability to generate complex CSS animations with a single click.
AI doesn't replace the Instructional Designer; it turns them into a "Super Developer." I continue to dive deep, learning new tools every day to refine my workflow, and the results on the ground speak for themselves.
